Be careful before clicking on any security or antivirus warnings when surfing the Web. Even the popular sites, such as Twitter and YouTube, are being infected with these schemes. Usually they say the computer is infected and offer to sell you antivirus software. They are even clever enough to use the most popular search words of the day, to get higher rankings on search engine lists.
How can you tell the difference between a scheme and a legitimate warning? Legitimate warnings come from your licensed antivirus software (AVG, McAfee or Symantec) and will quarantine the infestation, but will never take you to a Web site. Be sure your antivirus software is automatically updated to protect your computer from the most recent virus and security breaches, usually your IT administrator will do this at install.
